<p>It&#8217;s time to reach out. You have the concept, the product, and need to let the world know about it. How are you going to do it? Before you write a 1,000 word essay and send to your massive email list, take a moment and think visually.</p>
<p>Here are four good reasons to consider corporate motion graphics and whiteboard animation videos:</p>

<li><strong>Imagery Reinforces Words</strong>: Think about your 8<sup>h</sup> birthday party: the cake with the colorful frosting and plastic figurines on top&#8230;the presents in shiny wrapping paper stacked on the dining table&#8230;the awkward kids your mom invited over even though you never even played with them at recess. <p>The feature film <strong><em>Shambler</em></strong> is based on original material written by comic book legends Bob Layton and David Michelinie who are responsible for the reboot of <span style="text-decoration: underline;">IRON MAN</span> and a host of other wildly successful comic series.  Besides the film, <strong><em>Shambler</em></strong> is also a comic book limited series.</p>
<h2>SYNOPSIS &#8211; He’s a Walking Crime Scene.</h2>
<p>Brilliant scientist SAM PRATT is obsessed with matters of life and death &#8211; literally.  After years of work, he and his assistants (patient girlfriend ALI COLE and streetwise LUIS SALVO) have created a serum that will reanimate dead tissue.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>But the secret of life is as deadly as it is valuable.  When Luis offers the serum to master criminal MIKLOS ZEITSEV as payment for his gambling debts, Zeitsev takes the serum and all the research data &#8212; and when Sam tries to protect his life&#8217;s work, Zeitsev&#8217;s hulking enforcer MS. BOGENELLI murders him.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Ali and a repentant Luis are able to create more serum, but they must use the crime scene tape from the murder site to stop the serum from leaking out. Sam is reanimated as THE SHAMBLER, a yellow-and-black mummy with superhuman strength.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Sam bludgeons his way through the criminal underworld trying to find Zeitsev, while Zeitsev makes a deal with Chinese arms merchants to obtain a weapon that will stop the unstoppable Shambler. But Sam realizes his intellect is degrading &#8211; if he doesn&#8217;t retrieve the stolen research soon, he will become a mindless killing machine.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Ali makes a desperate deal with Zeitsev &#8211; she will teach him how to use the serum in exchange for the return of the research data that will save Sam&#8217;s mind. This sets up a high-energy climax as Zeitsev and his criminal network battle this new kind of superhero &#8211; the Shambler</p>

<p>He was recognized in the top 1% of Lucent’s global sales force, and was awarded a coveted “Council of Leaders” title.  Maury later joined a start up, which tripled its revenue and was successfully sold to Cisco Systems for over $1 Billion. As Global Client Manager for Avaya his efforts earned him the “Leadership Award in Global Sales and Marketing” for generating millions in new revenue streams.</p>

<p>He started Rip Media Group to create stories via motion graphic production, corporate animation videos, and marketing media to help others achieve success. Maury is Executive Producer of Bedrooms, as seen on Showtime, Consulting Producer at CIMA Productions, New Media Producer at Cabin 14 Productions, and producer of hundreds of hours of branded commercial productions.  Maury received his BA from West Virginia University and Executive MBA Certification in Global Technology from Tufts University. He works with non-profit organizations and fund raises for various charitable organizations.</p>

<p>A member of National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Film Independent, as well as a certified Inbound Marketing Professional. Maury is currently working with legendary comic creator Bob Layton (Iron Man), writer/director John Harrison (Dune, Children of Dune), Anne Marie Gillen (Fried Green Tomatoes), as producer and marketing officer. He is active on the board of advisers, and part owner of The McKim Group, an investment bank. Maury has appeared on television in various host roles for E! Television, Time Warner, and The Style Network and is completing the life changing book “Retire in 5, with the career you love”.</p>

<p>From 1996 – 2001, Anne Marie was the Chief Operating Officer of Morgan Freeman’s company, Revelations Entertainment.  She led the company in the strategic financing and distribution of Revelations’ projects.  During her tenure, Revelations Entertainment produced <em>Along Came a Spider</em> for Paramount; developed and produced <em>Port Chicago Mutiny</em> for NBC Network; and developed, independently financed and produced <em>Under Suspicion</em> starring Morgan Freeman and Gene Hackman for Sony/Lions Gate.</p>

<p>Prior to her tenure at Revelations Entertainment, Anne Marie was co-founder and CEO of Electric Shadow Productions, and its Chair.  Electric Shadow financed, and Anne Marie was the Executive Producer of its first feature, <em>Fried Green Tomatoes</em> which was released by Universal and starred Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy.  This picture earned over $200 million worldwide and was nominated for two Academy Awards and three Golden Globes.</p>

<p>She came to Electric Shadow Productions from Hemdale Releasing Corporation where she was Vice President of Acquisitions and Ancillary Sales.  During her tenure, Hemdale was one of the leading independent film companies producing such films as: <em>Platoon</em> winner of Best Picture and Best Director, <em>Hoosiers</em>, <em>The Last Emperor</em> winner of nine Academy Awards including Best Picture, Director and Screenplay.</p>

<p>It has been a busy three weeks for Rip Media, we had a speaker at USC, trips to San Jose, Seattle, and San Francisco to meet with clients, film, and present our completed presentations.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Overall, the success our clients have with the video productions are wonderful.  By having some charitable and non-profit causes as clients, it is even more exciting.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p><a href="http://vimeo.com/38903923">Alliance For Education: Fundraiser</a> from <a href="http://vimeo.com/ripmediagroup">maury rogow</a> on <a href="http://vimeo.com">Vimeo</a>.</p>
<p>– to an audience of the two governor elects, press, and 1,000 of Seattle’s philanthropic society.  By many accounts and praise for the production team, it was a success.  The fundraiser brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars to better the school system.  Truly amazing, and we are proud to be a partner of such a fine cause as the Alliance for Education.</p>
<p><strong>Lessons learned:</strong></p>
<p><strong>1.  </strong>Produce your video with a target audience in mind.  A video can go ‘viral’ once in 50 million tries.  It is better to create something you are proud of, that tells the story – the WHY – this is important.</p>
<p><strong>2.</strong>  Create your video with a high quality production team.  You only have one chance to make a first impression, and video is an amazing way to increase interest and awareness.  In a recent study, 60% of executives responded that they prefer to watch video, than read a web page.</p>
<p><strong>3.</strong>  Have collateral that backs up the video on hand, immediately, with a CTA- call to action.  If your video is good, it elicits action.  Take the time to create a full branding with the video as the main piece of the puzzle, and have your website, handouts, and an easy next step built in.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Alliance for Education did each of these admirably with the motion graphic, live audience, the website that updated with the video immediately after it was shown, and a wonderful hand out with the same imagery from the video.<br />
It is little wonder they are successfully helping our school system.</p>

<p>“Nothing is more powerful than an idea.”</p>
<p>This is the first line of text featured in viral sensation web video, &#8216;Kony 2012&#8242; narrated by Jason Russell (and his son). When a video grows from 10 thousand views to <strong>100 million views in just 6 days</strong>, it&#8217;s hard to disagree.</p>
<p>Created by the organization ‘Invisible Children’, the video chronicles the horrific crimes of Ugandan LRA leader Joseph Kony, and challenges viewers to take action to stop him.</p>
<p>Along with a swell of popularity has come a backlash of political criticism, making this marketing campaign a very intriguing case study in social media and human interest.</p>
<p>At Rip Media Group, we pay attention when something strikes a chord the way &#8216;Kony 2012&#8242; has. Without taking a side, we will point out what can be learned from the last week of this video&#8217;s journey.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>It has the &#8216;STUFF&#8217;</strong></p>
<p>As stated in his upcoming book, The Sales Force, How to use social media sales to launch your brand, Maury Rogow credits a NBC Universal for relating how successful ads use emotional triggers to incite action.  The acronym is: &#8216;STUFF&#8217;.</p>
<p>STUFF stands for: Sensual, Touching, Unique, Fear and Funny. These are five common emotional elements that can be found in a successful promotion – the more of these emotions you can create, the better the reaction. In my opinion, &#8216;Kony 2012&#8242; clearly features three of these: Touching, Unique and strikes Fear. The touching story of the children in Uganda is effective in drawing sympathy for the cause. The craft and execution of the visual piece is commendable, and the <em>unique</em> tactics and solutions that make this video stand out above the rest. The man with a target on his back, Joseph Kony, is displayed clearly as a dangerous, immoral man who is a major threat to peace, and children –evoking <em>fear</em> and urgency.</p>
<p>It made me want to stand up and take action to stop him immediately.</p>
<p>Which adds up to&#8230;</p>
<p><strong>Sharable </strong></p>
<p>What bumped this video into the realm of uber-viral was a clear call to action. In simple terms, the video says, “We must stop Joseph Kony, and here is how you can help.”  With “action kits” and easy clicks for donations, the video ends its moving and inspirational imagery by challenging every viewer to share, share, share. It worked: 100 million views – I am writing this after only one week.</p>
<p><strong>Controversy</strong></p>
<p>Google “Kony 2012” and you&#8217;ll find a number of articles and videos published in the past few days that feature many people up in arms about the accuracy and tactics of Invisible Children&#8217;s video. From a marketing perspective, what does controversy do to share-ability? In many instances, controversy can help.  For this particular movement, will the backlash hurt its popularity? In some ways, it already has. Screenings of the video in Uganda have been cancelled due to unfavorable reactions, and the rate of online views are slowing down. But, as the founders of the organization are interviewed on major news networks to defend themselves, more viewers may be intrigued to see the video. Time will tell how these developments will affect the video and the movement.</p>
<p>So, what can all of this prove for the potential of web videos? Well, as &#8216;Kony 2012&#8242; showed, with inspiration, ingenuity and the right amount of &#8216;STUFF&#8217;, a lot can happen in 6 days.  Either way, video marketing can be an amazingly powerful force.</p>
