DOES YOUR CORPORATE VIDEO PRODUCTION HAVE THE S.T.U.F.F.?

Corporate Video Production Vigilant

Anyone can make a corporate video production, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be a good one!

Welcome to our series about finding the emotional heart, we call it the S.T.U.F.F. (trademark pending) in your corporate video production. Simply put, in order to keep your audience engaged, your marketing video must have the S.T.U.F.F.! For a story to be memorable, it needs to have emotion and build empathy…we focus on one or more of these empathy attracting elements: Sexy, Touching, Unique/Unexpected, Funny & Fear.

In our final installment of the series, we will be covering the Fearelement. Installing a sense of fear into your video can make a bigger impact than you initially expect. Lets take a deeper look into why this emotion has such an impact on the human psyche.

Fear, when used correctly, can truly captivate and motivate your audience. Now, you might ask yourself, Why would anyone want to get scared? Well, fear presents an underlying feeling that may not necessarily relate to getting scared. Think of those commercials you see on television from the police department. They show scenarios of teens driving while distracted, which leads to a unexpected fatal accident. At some point in the video, the scene reverses, where a new scenario takes place. This half has a police officer pulling the drivers over and giving them a ticket stating that a ticket might have just saved their lives. The police department wants you to fear the idea of distracted driving. So in this instance, their videos prove extremely successful in response to their call to action.

Audiences respond and react to fear when they experience it because its generally the most difficult emotion to ignore. Used effectively, adding a sense of fear in your video gets people to react leading your target audience to take action. This is why its so important to make an impact on your viewers emotions. They have to feel movedby what they ultimately see.

A great example of one of our corporate video productions which incorporated Fear was for our long term client, Vigilant Solutions. Their core competency is developing technology that collects, organizes and shares data within law enforcement databases. The end goal is that by sharing accurate and up to date information, police forces can not only solve crimes, but even prevent them from occurring in some cases. This leads to improved safety for not only the police, but also the communities they serve.

When Vigilant Solutions approached us to produce an explainer video for their new Facial Recognition software, we knew we which element of the S.T.U.F.F. we needed to incorporate – Fear. We chose to create a hand drawn, character animation done in a very dark, film noir style, using comic books as an inspiration. It features a criminal who appears to be inherently ominous instilling fear in those around him. Through the use of Vigilant SolutionsFacial Recognition software, the criminal is apprehended and the streets are safe once more.

This video perfectly displays how elements can strengthen your message to your viewers, urging them to respond to your call to action.
