Does Your Corporate Video Production Have The S.T.U.F.F.?

STUFF

Anyone can make a corporate video production, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be a good one!

Our goal is to creatively convey your message to your target audience in a professional and memorable way. Many of our clients are in the B2B sector, and their histories, products and services tend to be complex and difficult to understand through conventional means like powerpoint presentations (ugh – powerpoint presentations!!). That’s where we step in! Using video as our medium, we communicate your  message in an engaging and memorable manner. Our creative process is tried and true in getting to the heart of what makes you special. In this blog, we’re going to delve into an overview of the emotional elements every story needs.

In order to keep your audience engaged you must have the S.T.U.F.F. (trademark pending)! For a story to be memorable, it needs one or more of these elements: Sexy, Touching, Unique/Unexpected, Funny & Fear. During our kick-off call with our clients, we always ask which of these emotions they want their video to invoke in their audience. Once we lock in those elements, we can start to create the story. Now let’s dive a little deeper into each of these emotions.

Sexy: It’s important to note that “sexy” doesn’t necessarily mean physical beauty – in our world it’s all about how your product or service sizzles and pops. What is it about your product that makes your audience say “I gotta have it?”

Touching: Is there something about your product or service that brings an emotional tie to past or future desires? Does it cause a sense of nostalgia? Perhaps hope or empathy? Touching a chord deep within your audience is a sure way to create a bond.

Unique/Unexpected: Creating a whiteboard animation or motion graphics video is certainly unique, but what is the unexpected twist you can demonstrate? Creating that twist will engage your audience and make them wonder what comes next.

Funny: Having a sense of humor in your video increases your likability with your clients, making you seem more approachable and accessible. It’s also a sure fire way to get the most shares online and keep your video at the forefront of your audience’s mind.

Fear: This is a powerful emotion, especially when used in business advertising. What are the consequences of your buyers taking no action? Inaction is dangerous and you often get left behind. Sales will suffer and someone else will be collecting the money that you could have earned.

It’s important to note that not every emotion should be used in each video. Finding the right mix or simply embracing a single, yet powerful, emotion is imperative in telling a good story. Be on the lookout this week and next for the rest of the S.T.U.F.F. series where we take an in depth look at each of these emotional elements. Let us help you tell your story today!
