The need for online video content and a video marketing campaign has never been greater.
This is due to a number of factors. Television networks are all going online, YouTube has a monolithic hold on video marketing – excatly like cable used to. In fact, YouTube is currently advertising themselves as a cable replacement. Viewers seem to agree as well.
Most consumers of media prefer to use streaming services over traditional television and written mediums for their entertainment, information, and shopping.
In essence, video marketers and video production/animation studios have had to go where the people are, and the people are on mobile devices, watching videos online – not sitting in their easy chairs flipping channels.
There are a number of reasons advertisers and companies may be reluctant to try video marketing. Don’t fall prey to these common lies some people buy.
Lie #1 Video is Overpriced (It Isn't)
If you check the traditional cost of television ads (hundreds of thousands of dollars), it is understandable why some people might think that. But the cost of online videos are considerably lower than television ads. This is due to the fact that the companies that create video for an online audience have ways of producing content which do not cost as much.
2D animation, for example, is an excellent way to get your message across. Better yet, 2D animation isn’t as expensive as hiring actors for traditional TV. However, even if the cost is more than you had planned to pay, it is worth it if it brings more customers to you. Think of it as ROI (your return on investment), which is higher because you took action to get your message out to where people are shopping.
Lie #2 You Don't Need Video in Your Ad Campaign (You Do)
Your average consumer will watch roughly 16 hours of online video a week, that’s no lie. Trust us, you want to be in front of them for at least 30 some of that time.
Can you really afford to ignore the majority of your potential customer base in your marketing strategy?
Lie #3 Video Marketing Isn't Effective (It Is)
Video is extremely effective! With so many tools to track every action a modern day online shopper takes, you can tell without a doubt that it was the online video that led them to the landing page where they made the purchase. The data doesn’t lie.
Lie #4 Explainer Videos Are Just a Gimmick (They're Not)
It’s easy to fall prey to a mentality that says ‘everyone’s doing it, haven’t we reached the point of saturation? Isn’t video marketing just a little gimmicky?’ To that I say, do video right and stop being a hipster. Good content will always be good. So, make great videos and get them in front of your customers. Choose a great animation studio (*cough* Rip Media Group *cough*) and you can’t go wrong.
Lie #5 Video are 'Overdone' (Video is Timeless)
Again, this terminology is vague, at best. What is “overdone?” – overly dramatic or too much? As long as the message delivered is sincere, informational, and relevant, customers will listen. And the data shows that when they listen, they purchase.
As you can see, all of these misconceptions don’t hold water when you start to really look at what is happening online with videos. The simple truth is video marketing works, animation works (even better than traditional video at times), and video is the #1 reason viewers turn into customers. Any questions?
