The Merger of Video and Twitter

The Merger of Video and Twitter

Twitter, one of the largest and most successful social networking services, has just recently introduced a highly anticipated feature to their services the ability to record and share videos directly on Twitter. With an estimated 232 million users, Twitter is ranked second (after Facebook) as the most popular social media platform. With the popularity of other video based social media platforms on the rise (i.e. Instagram, Vine, Snapchat), it only makes sense for Twitter to have added this feature to their overall services. Though the implementation of video has just begun, Twitter is already receiving highly positive feedback from their users.

Videos on Twitter can be up to 30 seconds long doubling the length of their main competitor, Instagram. Because of this, businesses should start to use Twitter as ad space for commercials and promoting their brands. Since commercials generally run within the 30-second timeframe, it only makes sense for brands to utilize Twitter to reach their highly diverse user base.

Not only does Twitter now allow you to record, upload and share video but it also offers the ability to cut and edit multiple video clips into one final product something Instagram has yet to implement. They created a simple user interface that allows you to drag, drop and cut all of your video clips. You are essentially your own editor meaning that you have endless ways to create unique content. Our Team at Rip Media Group is busy at work discovering all the aspects of this new feature to best implement it as a resource for our clients. We simply love meeting the challenge of getting our clients message out to their audience and are excited about the new avenue to do so.

Though Twitter video is still in its infancy, people will find ways to utilize its services to the best of their needs. Within the next couple months, Twitter will surely update their video services to give users more stylistic options. The future of Twitter video is definitely a bright one – and we are happy to be a part of it for our clients.
