How Childhelp Is Using Video In Their Nonprofit Marketing
Covid has hit nonprofits and charities hard. All of their revenue hinges on the personal connections that their fundraisers can create with their supporters. Now, in 2021 under the crushing pressure of Covid that persists despite vaccines, charities have begun to move again.
So, how is Childhelp innovating and improving their marketing videos to touch the hearts and minds of donors over digital events? It’s not rocket science. They’re just telling stories.
How Can Stories Help Nonprofits and Charities?
Numbers drive charities. Data points track the progress of their initiatives, and grant money is always at a premium. So, it’s very common for charities to fall into a common trap we see too many companies falling into. They rely on facts to sell their story.
That tactic may work very rarely at fundraisers, and it will never work in a zoom meeting.
So, Childhelp doubled down on their ability to tell stories to capture and keep the attention of the people attending their fundraising events virtually.
When Childhelp approached us, they wanted to tell one of their success stories live action, documentary style and compile celebrity testimonials and interviews into one cohesive, seamless presentation.
How Hard is It To Tell A Story?
With our assistance, Childhelp was able to host their first virtual event seamlessly and without delay.
How much work did it take to create the nonprofit videos that Childhelp needed?
In short, it takes a lot of work to tell a story on the scale that Childhelp needed. All told, we compiled a one-and-a-half-hour-long virtual program from clips that easily exceeded that length of time—just sifting through the footage to select the pieces we wanted was half the battle.
Was the story Childhelp told worth the work?
Absolutely it was. We were able to give Childhelp a tool that allowed them to connect with their audience in a way that wouldn’t have been possible without the live action videos we produced in collaboration with their team.
So, Is Nonprofit Marketing Like This Here to Stay?
We think that it is.
It’s not unusual for nonprofits and charities to produce documentaries and video stories and to hold fundraisers. Still, it’s rare to find both neatly packaged up together as a virtual event.
We don’t expect most charities to rely heavily on a model that includes virtual storytelling to fundraise within their communities. However, Covid has helped everyone perfect the art of successful virtual events, Childhelp included.
More than anything, we think that the results Childhelp saw are promising for nonprofits that plan to market globally.
We are proud to have worked alongside Childhelp, and we hope to work with them and charities like them again soon.
